Mary Ann Farrell, a woman of empathy, generosity, and strong convictions, passed away on September 19, 2025, in Kilgore, Texas, at the age of 90. Born on November 15, 1934, in Humboldt, Tennessee, she lived a life defined by her dedication to her community and her remarkable work ethic.

Mary married Jerome Farrell on September 19, 1953, and they were married for 38 years until his death in 1991. Together, they raised four children: Tim, Judy, Bob, and Doug. Mary was an amazing homemaker who found joy in cooking and gardening.

Her passion for helping others was evident in her lifelong commitment to volunteering. She received the prestigious Volunteer of the Year award from HEB, was a multiple sponsor for AA, and served as a dedicated candy striper at a special needs children's hospital in Michigan. In her late 40s, she began a new chapter, working for 10 years at a store she frequented, Special Woman Dress Shop, in Irving, Texas. Through her own lifelong dedication to her work and volunteer efforts, she inspired and instilled the same values in her children.

She was a character in the truest sense of the word—feisty, spunky, and deeply nurturing. You could always count on her to try to feed you, a simple act that showed her immense love for those around her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Farrell; her mother, Dorothy Rockensuess; her brothers, Kenny and Gerald Rockensuess; her son, Robert Farrell; and her son-in-law, Sammy Hicks.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Tim Farrell and his wife Becky of Crowley, TX; daughter, Judith Hicks of Longview, TX; daughter-in-law, Sherrie Farrell of Hurst, TX; son, Doug Farrell and his wife Michelle of Springtown, TX; her brother, Larry Rockensuess and his wife Jane of Trenton, Michigan; her sister-in-law, Peggy Rockensuess of Taylor, Michigan; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and loved ones.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Brookdale Eden and Arabella of Kilgore for their loving and dedicated care of our mother. We are also eternally grateful to Kindful Hospice for walking through this journey with us.
