Mary Frances Moss McCandless Garner, age 88, a resident of Santa Fe, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Brandon Cochran officiating. A visitation will also be held on Saturday from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Mt. Hope Cemetery at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on August 16, 1936, in Franklin, Tennessee, Mary was the daughter of the late James Moss and the late Christine Blair Moss. She was a member of Bending Chestnut Baptist Church and enjoyed a life filled with simple joys. Mary loved playing Bingo and even organized a Bingo bus in years past. She also delighted in working puzzle books, watching Channel 5, and sitting in the sunshine on her front porch chatting with neighbors. She loved all flowers, especially orchids and roses.
She is survived by her son, Ronnie McCandless (Winnie Coleman) of Columbia, daughter, Shelly Hill of Mt. Pleasant, brothers, James Marvin (Pat) Moss of Nashville, Leroy Moss of Crossville, Jimmy Lee Moss of Kentucky, sisters, Margaret Beard of Alabama, Ada Christie of Kentucky, Lois Moss of Kentucky, grandchildren, James Ernest McCandless, Timothy Ray McCandless, Rhonda Renee Rose (Billy Dowlan), Ina (Brian) Johnson, Mercedes Nicole McCandless, Michael McCandless, Brian McCandless, Lavonte McCandless, Davonte McCandless, and Jaylen Hill, and numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Loyd McCandless, second husband, Wesley McCandless, son, Donnie McCandless, grandson, Ronnie L. McCandless, Jr., and brother, Charles Moss.
