Mary Mathilda Garvey

Mary Mathilda Garvey, 88, of St. Cloud, FL passed away January 8, 2025 with her family by her side.

She was born to the late Edward and Marie (Murphy) Hemmer, April 20, 1936 in Lockport, NY. She graduated from Lockport Sr. High School in 1955 and took various classes at community college during her lifetime. She married the late Richard Garvey in 1956 and lived in Lockport for 15 years before relocating to sunny St. Cloud, FL. Mary is survived by her brother William Hemmer of Fairview, WV and her two daughters: Judy Gasperini (Gary) of Valkaria, FL and Carol Randall (Steven) of New Orleans, LA. She is also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her husband in 1994; her son, Mark, in 2008; and her brother, John and sister, Shirley Seiler.

Mary retired from Bruce Wilson Photography in Kissimmee in 2010. Formerly she held many roles at Garvey Electronics, Minx Electronics, Eckerd Corporation and Harrison Radiator.

Mary was known for baking delicious desserts such as apple crisp, brownies, and Mary's Delight. She was an avid reader of historical fiction and often had two or three books going at a time. She spent many years playing Mahjong and Words with Friends. She loved the freedom of her car and made sure to take trips out every day.

Upon Mary's request, there will be no services and her ashes will be interred in the ossuary at Osceola Memorial Gardens, Kissimmee, FL.
