Mary Louise Geroux, a cherished matriarch and beacon of warmth, passed away surrounded by family on August 24, 2025, at her home in Hartland, Michigan. Born on August 22, 1931, in Lincoln Park, Michigan. Mary's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and the joy of simple pleasures.
The daughter of the late Donald and Ruth Skiver, Mary grew up with a close-knit family that instilled in her the values of honesty, and grace. On May 25, 1951, she married the love of her life, Robert Geroux, who preceded her in death. Together, they shared a love so profound that it became the cornerstone of their family.
Mary is lovingly remembered by her children, Vicki (the late Clifford) Schiesel, Kathi Jones Cutler, Robert (Sharon) Geroux Jr., and Kim (John) Lenga, who each carry forward her legacy of kindness and dedication. Her grandchildren, Jeffrey (Kristi) Jones, Bill Schiesel, Steven (Jessica) Schiesel, Kristyn (Jimmy Hodson) Geroux, Robert (Melissa) Geroux III, JT (Molly) Lenga, and Cas Lenga, as well as her great-grandchildren, Brendyn, Jayden, Aiyana, Evelyn, Ashley, Autumn, Sienna, Aiden, Madeline, Robert IV, and Ceci, will forever cherish the memories and life lessons she imparted.
Mary's siblings, Don Skiver, Judy Marcinkiewicz, and the late Virginia Miller, each have reflected a piece of Mary's spirit and character.
An avid roller skater, Mary's youthful vigor never dimmed, as she was still gracefully gliding on wheels at the age of 92. Her passion for baking was well-known, with her bread being a sought-after treat among family and friends. Mary's hands were rarely still, as she found joy in crocheting, knitting, and needlework, creating beautiful pieces that will be treasured for generations.
Mary's competitive streak and love for games shone brightly during family Scrabble matches-a game she adored ever since her victory at a youthful spelling bee. Her skill at Jacks was unmatched, and she carried herself with an elegance and poise that was as natural to her as breathing.
Yet, for all her grace, Mary was refreshingly outspoken and honest. Her matter-of-fact approach to life was tempered with humor and love, making her a trusted confidante and advisor to many.
Above all, Mary Louise Geroux's life was a celebration of love, family, and finding joy in the simple things. She leaves behind not just memories, but traditions, recipes, and a while lot of stories that her family will continue to tell with laughter and love.
