Mary Goodwin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home & Cremation Service - Ventura on Sep. 26, 2023.
With hearts full of love, we announce Mary Christine (Chris) Goodwin went to be with Jesus in her heavenly home at the age of 71 on September 19, 2023 within the comfort of her Ventura, California home. A Celebration of Chris' Life will take place on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Ventura Missionary Church Sanctuary, 500 High Point Drive, Ventura. Her family extends their invitation to share in love and remembrance of their beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt.
Mary Christine Goodwin was born in Torrance, CA to Frank and Ivy Franzer on July 11, 1952. She was the youngest of 3 children, having two sisters, Joyce and Jean, all of whom predeceased. We are comforted in knowing Chris is reunited with her beloved parents and siblings who have gone before her, their spirits now enfolded by the divine plan of God Almighty.
Christine is survived by her husband and devoted partner of 54 years, Daniel R. Goodwin, of Ventura. She is also survived by a close-knit, loving family including their dear children: Daniel M. Goodwin, Jennifer I. Hastie (Lane Hastie), and Joshua A. Goodwin (Andra Goodwin); their precious grandchildren are Lauren Goodwin, Parker Hastie (Emma Hastie), Taylor Hastie, Bailey Hastie, Maya Goodwin, and Jade Goodwin.
In 1969, Chris and Dan made Ventura their permanent home where they raised three children, Danny, Jen, and Josh. Chris was a wonderful wife and mother, constantly loving and instilling confidence while encouraging and enriching the whole family. While Chris and her husband had Christian exposure during their youth, they made their decisions to serve Christ in 1972. That began the theme of their life's journey together, which built a strong marriage allowing them to support their family and community. Chris also became a Sunday School teacher, AYSO coach, real estate appraiser, and campaign manager for her husband's county-wide elections.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to many friends within their neighborhood, their church family, and around Ventura County. In lieu of flowers, they request memorial donations may be made to the Benevolence Fund at Ventura Missionary Church.
