Mary Gospeter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McNearney - Schmidt Funeral and Cremation on Jan. 2, 2026.
Mary (Carlin) Gospeter, age 102, of Burnsville, Minnesota, passed away December 31, 2025. Mary was born and raised in Clear Lake, Minnesota. She then worked and attended college in St Cloud, MN, before moving to Minneapolis to work at Honeywell in the defense industry during World War II. She met Robert Gospeter when he returned home in late 1945 from serving in WWII and she was renting a room from his parents. They married in 1946 and had 5 children.
Mary focused on homemaking and her children. The family enjoyed time at their cabin on Lake Mille Lacs where Mary enjoyed fishing and was quite proficient at filleting her catches. She and Bob enjoyed a long retirement spending winters in Florida and summers in Minnesota. This allowed year-round golf. She didn't always hit them far, but she always hit them straight.
Music was an integral part of her life. She sang in the church choir and in a vocal quartet. Her ability to play piano and organ by ear lead to her performing for groups wherever she lived. When she moved to Regent, they incorporated Music with Mary as part of their activities. She loved dancing and performed a wicked Charlston well into her 90's. Other hobbies were playing cards, Bunco and Bingo, all of which she usually won.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her parents, Mary and John Carlin, and 7 siblings.
She is survived by her brother, Daniel (Betsy) Carlin, and her children; Mary Hartman, Pat Kline, Robert (Cindy) Gospeter, Ammie (Kendall) Kraft, Michelle (Mark) Jacobs; grandchildren, Erin (Troy Johnson) Hartman, Colene (Dave) Blank, Alison (Kyle) Woody, Kim (Kevin) Eicher, Jessie (Owen Kelly) Kraft, Nikki (Chris) Hauck, Cassie Gospeter, Carrie (Chris) O'Hearn, Callie (Andrew) Urban, Tyler (Stephanie) Kraft, Megan (Kyle) Fritz, Sarah (Robbie Wais) Jacobs, 24 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Funeral arrangements are pending until Spring.
