Gretchen Kay Dertz, 55 of Shakopee, MN died March 16, 2026from complications of Frontotemporal Degeneration. Born in St. Paul, MN. Raised in Burnsville and later, Miltona, MN. She graduated from Alexandria High School, Alexandria, MN. She earned her degree in Occupational Therapy and dedicated several years to caring for those in need. Gretchen was a realtor for over 20 years and truly enjoyed helping people find their dream home. She also worked at Vitreoretinal Surgery (now Retina Specialists) for 18 years. She had a strong faith in Jesus and practiced his teachings through her dedication to others. Gretchen loved her fur babies! There wasn't a dog she passed that she didn't stop to greet. She enjoyed touring new breweries, playing bingo, road tripping to local festivals, and socializing on outdoor patios. Preceded in death by her father Robert (Bob) Frechette. She is survived by her husband Ted of 25 years, beloved dog Cane, Mother Jeanette (Jan) Frechette, brothers Gary (Jackie) Frechette, Greg (Betsy) Frechette, and Glen Frechette and best friend and sister Gayle (Todd) Peter, many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Celebration of life 3:00 PM Friday, March 27, 2026 at White Funeral Home, 12804 Nicollet Ave S, Burnsville MN. Visitation two hours prior, beginning at 1:00 PM. A private burial will take place later in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations can be made to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) at http://www.theaftd.org/ in memory of Gretchen Dertz. Or, if you prefer, the Minnesota Animal Human Society.
