Mason-White Funeral Home - WashingtonPhyllis Aschenbrenner, 88, of Washington, Illinois, passed away at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Apostolic Christian Restmoor in Morton, Illinois.
She was born on August 14, 1937, in Deer Creek, Illinois, to Elmer and Marie Braker Knapp. She married Gerald Aschenbrenner on January 29, 2000, in Peoria, Illinois. Jerry passed away in 2021. She was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Ashley Dallas, and one son-in-law, Tim Curley.
Survivors include her children, Kay Curley of Goodfield, Illinois, and Brenda (Ben) Dallas of Varna, Illinois; two stepdaughters, Michelle (Brian) Respiscio of Shakopee, Minnesota, and Jennifer (Scott Waldon) Glad of Creve Coeur, Illinois. Additionally, she is survived by 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Also surviving is her sister, Ida Lu Koehl of Morton.
She loved gardening, cooking, baking, and cherishing moments with her family. Phyllis's zest for life truly shone beyond her own home, especially within the warm community of Maple Lawn Homes, where she was cherished by many. She especially loved sharing meals with friends, relishing those moments filled with stories, laughter, and delicious food.
Cremation has been accorded, and a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 5 pm until 8 pm at the VFW Post 9016 in Washington. Her remains will be privately interred at Union Cemetery in Washington. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to VFW Post 9016.
