Theodore Compton Sr.

Theodore "Ted" R. Compton Sr., 86, of Washington, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. He was blessed to have his family at his side at the time of his death before God received him into His Kingdom.

He was born on October 12, 1939, in Peoria, the son of Howard and Edna Hays Compton. He married Penny Sears on September 22, 1962, in Peoria. Sadly, she passed away on October 21, 2019. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Chuck Compton.

He is survived by his children: Theodore R. (Betsy) Compton Jr., Lynn (Charles) Hatch, Terri Compton, and Sherri (Scott) Alexander Sr.; grandchildren: Corissa, Zach, Scott Jr., Robbie, Tyler, Jackie; and three great-grandchildren. Ted was a proud US Army Veteran. He was a member of the American Legion Post 100, Washington and The Izaak Walton League of America.

At Ted's request, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at Beverly Manor Missionary Baptist Church in Washington on Saturday, March 28, 2026 11:30 am. Pastor Jason Shults will officiate. Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorials may be made to ARK of Lacon and OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.
