Sonny Lee Compton Sr., 77, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025. Sonny was a loving dad, papaw, brother, uncle, and friend. He worked at Kentucky Container as a truck driver for many years. He always enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and watching basketball. Sonny will truly be missed by everyone who had the honor of knowing him.
He was born on October 9, 1947 in Louisville, Kentucky to Charles Compton and Anna Covington. He is preceded in death by his Father, Charles Harris Compton, Mother, Anna Catherine Covington, Siblings, Carolyn Burgess and Ruth Wyatt.
Sonny is survived by his loving family, Sons, George Clifton (Anna) Compton and Sonny Lee Compton, Jr.; Amber "Peepers" Bennington; Grandchildren, Shane (Shelby) Compton, Zachary Compton, Amber (Miles) Compton, Hayli (Eric) Wilson, Taylor (Omar) Lopez, Madison Compton, Devan Compton, and Heaven Compton; Great-Grandchildren, Alexander, Jaxon, Harper, Katarina, Anaya, Amani, Amira, Aryah, and Raheem; Siblings, Rebecca Maklin, Michael Johnson, Marian Kennedy, and Bruce Sands, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends to cherish his memory forever.
