Mary Gregory Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service - Graniteville on Jan. 30, 2026.
Mrs. Mary Ruth Williams Gregory, 84, of Langley, SC, entered into rest on Thursday, January 29, 2026.

Born in and a lifelong resident of the area, she is the daughter of the late Melvin and Beatrice Randall McDaniel. She married Paul Van Williams on June 13, 1958, who died on June 3, 1991. Following Paul's death, she married William Leon "Bill" Gregory, Jr., who also predeceased her.

Miss Mary loved children. She retired from the former Steppingstones Child Care Service. A job that was perfect for her.

Miss Mary was a dedicated member of Mid Valley Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. She could often be found doing what she enjoyed, gardening, crafting, remodeling (do-it-yourself projects), fishing, and cooking. However, she enjoyed nothing more than time spent with her family.

Miss Mary is loved. She will be missed by her children, Robin (Greg) Wainwright, Jeff (the late Pam) Williams,, and Shawn (Kim) Williams, a sister, Martha (G.C.) Williams, thirty-one grandchildren, forty-seven great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren, Bill's children, William Leon (Linda) Gregory, III, Robert (Dianne) Gregory, Keith (Monica) Gregory, and Lisa (Tim) McKevett, extended family members, and her church family.

Also preceding her in death were a son, Terry Van Williams, grandsons, Derrick Williams and Joseph Shultz, siblings, Stephen Eddie McDaniel, Margie Tice and Frances Boyd and Bill's children, Gary Gregory and Vickie Welch

The family will greet friends on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, beginning at 2 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville, SC. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 3 o'clock in the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Pastor Frank Barker will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC. Pallbearers will be Ben Sutton, Brint Boatwright, Logan Geisler, Landyn Geisler, Micheal Paul Williams and Jace Williams
