Mary Gutierrez

Mary Gutierrez passed away on February 15, 2024 in Tucson, Arizona. She was born on May 31, 1929 in Tanque Verde, Arizona. Mary was a very loving individual who touched the lives of many with her caring and patient nature. She was like a ray of sunshine, bringing warmth and joy to everyone around her.

Mary dedicated twenty years of her life as the head cook at Guillermo's Double L Restaurant. Her culinary expertise delighted the taste buds of countless customers, and her delicious dishes became synonymous with the restaurant's success. Mary's time as a cook allowed her to pursue her passion for cooking and baking, showcasing her creativity and talent in the kitchen.

Outside of work, Mary had a deep love for tending to her plants. She found solace and satisfaction in nurturing the green life around her. Additionally, Mary enjoyed dancing, which brought out her vibrant spirit and added an extra dose of happiness to any gathering.

Mary's proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly her children and grandchildren. She cherished every moment spent with them, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter. Family was at the core of Mary's existence, and she instilled strong values in each generation that will continue to shape their lives.

Mary was preceded in death by her first husband, Juan Gutierrez; children Maryana, John Gutierrez, Henry Gutierrez, Michael Gutierrez, and Ronnie Gutierrez; as well as her siblings. Although they are no longer by her side, their memories will forever be cherished in Mary's heart.

Mary is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, John Santa Marina. Together they shared a deep connection and created a lifetime of beautiful memories. Mary is also survived by her children Alice Alegria, Patsy Borquez, Sally Alegria, Stella Gutierrez and Betty Gutierrez; 32 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great grandchildren; sister Maggie; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mary's impact on their lives will never be forgotten, and her love will continue to be felt through the bonds they share.

A viewing service will be held on February 22, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Martinez Funeral Chapels in Tucson, Arizona. Following the viewing, a reception will take place from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Martinez North Chapel and Reception Hall, allowing family and friends to come together to remember and celebrate Mary's remarkable life.

Mary Gutierrez may no longer be physically present with us, but her spirit will live on in our hearts. Her love, kindness, and warm nature will forever be remembered by those who were fortunate enough to know her. May she find eternal peace as she dances among the stars.
