Mary Hager Obituary
Mary Alice Hager, 70, died on Tuesday, August 30, 2011, at Avante of Waynesboro.
She was born on March 28, 1941, in Amherst County, a daughter of the late John and Ruby McFadden Garrett.
She was a member of the Waynesboro Seventh-Day Adventist Church where she enjoyed working with the children's ministries. Each year she looked forward to the Camp Meetings. She loved Jesus and God.
An LPN, Mary worked at nursing homes for 30 years. She loved crocheting and cross-stitching.
She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer Davis.
Surviving are her children, Tamara Davis Gibson of Waynesboro and John Wesley and Michele Davis of Stuarts Draft; one sister, Myrtle Mikels and husband, Ralph, of Buena Vista; two brothers, John Garrett of Salem and Walter Garrett and wife, Cheryl, of Buena Vista; five grandchildren, John W. Davis II and fiancee, Amanda Clark, Christy Gibson, Julie Campbell and husband, Ben, Jill Davis and Ken Gibson; two great-grandchildren, Kaylee Bennett and Jennifer Campbell; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted 4 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2011, at the Waynesboro Seventh-Day Adventist Church by Pastor Will Johns.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Thursday, September 1, 2011, at McDow Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Waynesboro Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1700 Lyndhurst Road, Waynesboro, VA 22980, or the American Heart Association, 3025 Berkmar Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22901.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during these difficult days. Mary was such a great blessing to our family. She cared for and loved our Heidi like one of her own. Take comfort in knowing is now with her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ and all the troubles of this world are behind her.
