Mary Halapin-Hughes Obituary

Born October 1, 1944 in New Kensington, she was a daughter of the late Willie Sharkins & Mary (Hosac) Sharkins.
Mary Louise was a 1962 graduate of Plum High School and attended night school at Penn State New Kensington. She was employed in various roles at Thrift Drug, Inc. from 1969 until retiring as the Vice President of Information Systems in 1998.
Mary Louise loved cooking, traveling, and going to the camp in Tionesta.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie D. Hughes, who passed away on December 13, 2014; grandson, Alex Orange; and her brothers, Willie and Robert Sharkins.
Mary Louise is survived by her daughter, Leesa (Todd Orange) Halapin of Washington Township; son, Mike Halapin of Wexford; grandchildren, Mikey, Jack, and Gunner; and nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo, on Saturday, September 20, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. until the Celebration Of Life Tribute Service at 1:00 p.m. Please join the family as they honor Mary Louise's life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary Louise's memory to St. Vincent de Paul c/o St. James Roman Catholic Church, 109 Owens View Ave., Apollo, PA 15613.
