Mary Hare Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 20, 2026.
Mary C. Hare, a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 17th, 2026, at her home in Glen Burnie, Maryland, at the age of 70. Born on September 15th, 1955, in Baltimore, Maryland, Mary was a beacon of kindness, compassion, and joy to those who knew her.
Mary dedicated her professional life to helping others in her role as a legal secretary. Her career spanned decades at prestigious firms such as Miles and Stockbridge, Simms, Bowen and Simms, and most recently she was a secretary at J.W. Bortman before she retired in 2020. Her diligence and commitment to her work left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike.
She found joy in activities that brought happiness to herself and those around her. Mary had a passion for dancing and loved watching movies. She cherished her family and adored her dog, Angel. Mary was known for her infectious laughter and her ability to make others laugh, which lit up every room she entered. Her gentle spirit and generous heart touched everyone she met.
Mary is survived by her devoted husband of 38 years, Jeffrey Hare; her loving daughter, Andrea Smith; her sisters, Dawn Lowry and Lois Gallion; and her grandsons, Michael Hudgins, Colin Hudgins, and Ryan Norris. Her legacy of love and warmth continues to live on through them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Travers and Dorothy Semmont, and her sister, Dorothy Roedel.
Per Mary's wishes, services and interment will be private.
Mary's departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her memory will be cherished forever. Let us remember her laughter, her compassion, and her unwavering dedication to those she loved. Rest in peace, dear Mary.
