Mary Harrell Obituary

Visit the Comanche Funeral Home website to view the full obituary.

Mary Elizabeth Harrell, a spirited soul with a heart full of love, passed away on December 3, 2025, at the age of 75, in Mabank, TX. Born on October 5, 1950, in Comanche, TX, she was the proud daughter of Ruben and Ruby (Grumbles) Roberts.

Mary will be remembered for many things, not least of which is her devotion to family and her furry friends. She lived in Tool, TX, with her beloved dog Angel, son Doug Myers, and daughter-in-law Shanna Myers, with plenty of help from her friend Meisha. For the last several years of her life, Doug and Shanna made sure she was well cared for, especially after her lung cancer diagnosis in January 2025. Doctors gave her 90 days, but Mary, with her stuborness and unyielding spirit, fought valiantly for 11 months. She left us peacefully while surrounded by Doug at the Mabank Nursing Home.

Mary had a unique way of embracing life-she adored her dogs and took them everywhere. If the pups weren't invited, neither was she! She loved stopping to snap pictures of flowers and enjoyed going out on the boat fishing. Game nights at her sister Carolyne's house and her brother Rogers house were a treasured pastime, filled with Yahtzee, card games, the Wii and laughter.

Mary was thrilled to be a grandmother, she loved to be around the little ones and had recently earned the title of great-great-grandma. Family was her everything, and she had a treasure of stories to share. We'll keep her memory alive, chuckling at her stubborn charm and retelling her tales at family dinners and gatherings.

Mary is survived by her sons, Craig and Doug Myers; Daughter in law, Shanna Myers, her brother Roger Roberts; her sister Carolyne Roberts Unrue; and her sisters-in-law, Louise "Pokie" Roberts and Louise Roberts, and many nephews and niece and grandchildren.

Mary will be joining her parents and brothers, James and Jerry Roberts, as well as her brother-in-law Richard Unrue, in the hearts and memories of all who loved her.
