Mary Ellen Hartong, age 93, went home to be with the Lord on January 31, 2024.
Born in Canton, Ohio, she lived her life in Portage County. Mary Ellen was a member of St. Joseph Church and St. Vincent DePaul Society. She enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids, playing cards, card clubs, bowling, golf, and Sunday drives.
Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Hartong; daughters, Karen, Susan, Maryk, and Barbara; brothers, Bill, Earl, and Joe; and sisters, Dolores and Audrey. She is survived in death by her husband, Donald Hatherill; her sons, Bruce, Tim (Bev), Tom (Sherry), and Allan; daughter, Betty (Jerry); son in law, Gary; Kathy Hartong; 18 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; brothers, Dave and Mike; and sister, Lois.
Family and friends will be received Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 10 – 11 a.m., with a mass of Christian burial at St. Joseph Church, 2643 Waterloo Rd, Mogadore, OH 44260, immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. Joseph School, 2617 Waterloo Rd, Mogadore, OH 44260, or St. Vincent DePaul Society, 2643 Waterloo Rd, Mogadore, OH 44260. The family would like to thank the staff at Tamarack Ridge and Alicia Kelly for their love and care for Mary Ellen.
