MARY HESSELRODE
Henderson, TN: Mary Jesse Hesselrode age 81, passed away September 28, 2025, at her home.
She was born March 23, 1944, in Encouch, TX, the daughter of the late Antanacio Sanchez and Loretta Mancha Vasquez Gorostiza. She grew up in Charleston, MO and graduated from Charleston High School. She earned a A.A. Degree from Shawnee Community College in Ullian, IL.
She married Eddie Hesselrode in January of 1961, and they made their home in Cario, IL for several years and then moved to Jackson, TN in 1986. Mr. Hesselrode preceded her in death in 1999.
She worked as a secretary for Mack Pest Control in Jackson, for about twenty-five years. She later worked for Chester County Schools as bi-linguist and in special education.
She enjoyed country line dancing and cooking. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandson.
She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Jackson.
Mrs. Hesselrode is survived by a son, Tracy Hesselrode (Shirley) of Hephzibah, GA, a grandchild, Shawn Hesselrode (Care'reshai), two brothers, Tony Gorostiza (Ellen) of Charleston, MO and Ricky Gorostiza (Belinda) of Sikeston, MO, two sisters, Wally Jones of Arlington, TN and Rosa Hornback (Ron) of Charleston, MO.
She was preceded in death her parents, her husband, Eddie Hesselrode (1999), a son, Charles Eddie Hesselrode (1994), a brother, Johnny Gorostiza and three sisters, Herminia Gorostiza, Angelita Crespo and Gloria Hack.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Cypress Grove Nature Park at 866 Airways Blvd. Jackson, TN 38301.
A Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM October 4th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel.
