Mary G. Holtzapple

Mary Grace Holtzapple, age 106, died on March 30, 2025, at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late John W. Holtzapple, Jr.
Born in St. Thomas, Franklin County, PA, she was the daughter of Frank W. and Laura E. (Statler) Croft.
Mrs. Holtzapple was an English and Latin teacher for thirty-eight years. She taught thirty-four of those years in the York Suburban School District and four years in Fannett Township, Franklin County. She was an honors graduate of Gettysburg College and also attended the University of Vermont. She belonged to the York County Chapter- Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees and was a life member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association. Mrs. Holtzapple was also a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Dallastown, and was a teacher of the Adult Bible Class of the Sunday School for thirty-five years.
She is survived by a son, John C. Holtzapple, who returned to York from Tennessee four years ago to stay with her. She was predeceased by a sister, Ella May Croft of Chambersburg.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Friday, April 4, 2025 at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 W. Main St. Dallastown., with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Patti Bream officiating. Interment to follow in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
