Mary Hunt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Raymond Funeral Service PA - La Plata on Feb. 27, 2026.
Mary Wallace Hunt, born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, October 8, 1947, passed away peacefully surrounded with her family on February 25, 2026 at 78 years old.

Mary is predeceased by her husband, Michael W. Hunt, Sr., son Mark W. Hunt, parents James (Jim) and Vera Wallace, brothers Donald, Jim (Jumbo), John, and sisters Beverly, and Nancy.

She is survived by her son, John Michael Hunt, Jr. (Brandon), sisters Pat Buckler and Francis Maye, mother-in-law, Alleen Whitley and an abundance of nephews and nieces.

Mary relocated from Uniontown, Pennsylvania to Maryland to live with her sister, Pat. She spent a lot of time with her nieces, Jamie and Janice and nephew, Jimmy.

Mary retired from the federal government where she spent 44 years as an accountant for the United States Navy. She worked at the Naval Research Laboratory for her entire career.

Mary supported her beloved sons through Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Baseball and Soccer. She was a Cub Scout leader and served as a committee member to her sons' Boy Scout troop.

Mary spent much time attending wrestling matches and football games to cheer on her great nephews, Bud, Jr. and Josh. We will never know now who her favorite was.

Later in life she enjoyed going to Huntts Tavern which her son and friend, Mike Seman owns to see Flippin Eyelids. Mike cared deeply for her and was always a call away for her and was also with her when she passed.

Mary loved her fur babies; Morgan, Pepsi, Dexter and Starry. Morgan and Pepsi passed; however, she had Dexter and Starry at the end.

Mary was an avid Elvis Presley fan. She thoroughly enjoyed his music and always wanted to listen to him in the car. If you were ever on her house, you would remember the huge Elvis velvet paintings in the foyer.

A celebration of life will be held at Raymond Funeral Home in LaPlata, Md. Visitation will be from 10am to 12pm with services at 12pm. Interment will follow to Trinity Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.

Pallbearers will be her nephews, Clifford Fincham, James (Jimmy) Ondrish, and great nephews, Vincent (Bud) Shontere, Thomas (Jr) Rackey, Joshua Rackey and Robert (RJ) Ondrish.
