Joan Kelley Sherbert

Joan Kelley Sherbert, 70, passed away on February 18, 2026.

Born to Rex and Elizabeth Kelley in Takoma Park, Joan built a life centered on love, family, and quiet strength. In her later years, she made her home in Fredericksburg with her son, daughter-in-law, and beloved grandchildren, who brought her so much joy.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, John Sherbert, whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her son, Donald Sherbert and his wife, Emilie Sherbert; her daughter, Nicole Sherbert; and her cherished grandchildren, Caden Sherbert, Madelyn Sherbert, Travis Dodson, and Graceleigh Dodson. She is also survived by her beloved siblings and extended family.

After a journey with epilepsy, Joan retired medically but never allowed her health challenges to define her. Instead, she devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family. She treasured her role as "Grandma" above all else. Whether crocheting, quilting keepsakes, working on puzzles, or cheering in the stands at baseball games with her son - always with an enthusiastic "Go Nats!" for the Washington Nationals - Joan found joy in life's simple, meaningful moments.

Joan will be remembered for her resilience, her creativity, and the deep love she poured into her family. The warmth of her handmade gifts and the memories she created will continue to comfort those who knew and loved her.

She will be deeply missed and forever held in the hearts of her family.

A Visitation for Joan will be held at Raymond Funeral Service Chapel on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 9:30am until her Funeral Service at 10:30am. Interment will immediately follow at La Plata United Methodist Cemetery (Dentsville).
