Mary Iossa Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory - Middletown on Dec. 15, 2025.
Mary C. Iossa, age 95, of Middletown, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.

Born in Madison, NJ, on August 13, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Salvatore and Rose (Garreffa) Giovinazzo. Mary worked as a hairdresser for many years and especially enjoyed using her skills as a stylist for more than a dozen Madison High School annual musicals.

Mary was a wonderful cook and baker and took great pleasure in preparing meals for her loved ones. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary sang in her hometown church choir and served as its music librarian for many years. She and her husband formed many close, lifelong friendships at St. Vincent Martyr Church. One of her proudest moments was singing with her choir for Saint Pope John Paul II in Rome.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband of seventy-two years, Angelo H. Iossa, Jr.; and her siblings, Paul Giovinazzo, Ralph Sepe, and Josephine Lacapo. She is survived by her children, Rosemary Hadland (Martin), Lynn Grillo (Joseph), and Angelo Iossa III (Kelli); six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, whom she saw frequently.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 am, following the visitation, at St. Joseph Parish, 319 East Main Street, Middletown, DE. Interment will be held privately in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
