Mary MeeMee James, a resident of Prairieville, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at the age of 70. She was born on September 29, 1954, in Covington, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Josephine and Durwood Martin; and her brother, Danny “Outlaw” Martin.
She found her calling as a mother who loved taking care of her family, giving everyone unconditional love and accepting everyone as they were. She loved sleepovers with all her children and grandchildren. Her favorite holiday tradition was dying easter eggs with family. Her favorite sports team was the Kansas City Chiefs.
Mary enjoyed crafts, including scrapbooking and making picture collages, listening to her records, and watching soap operas. She liked to decorate and rearrange her home and care for her plants. In her younger days, Mary enjoyed concerts, dancing and riding motorcycles. She was a member of Graceworks Church and a dedicated employee of B & H Air Tools/Delta Rigging & Tools for over 35 years.
She is survived by her children, Tina and Keith Nutt, Sissy James, Shannon and Brian Shaw, Nathan and Triche James, Erica James, Nikki and John Wisman, Sarah James, and Emily and Chase Berthelot; her sisters, Debbie and Doug Sonnier, and Angela Stephens; her grandchildren, Kameron, Kolt, Kortlyn, Kaegen, Leacy, Cullen, Natalee, Brittani, Brooke, Nathan, Breanna, Emma, Hannah, Victoria, Ava, Maddi, Chase, Carter, Easton, and Allie; and more great-grandchildren, loving family members, and friends than can be counted.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge on Sunday, March 2, 2025, beginning at 8:30 a.m. with the funeral service beginning at 10:00 a.m. officiated by Pastor Bill Pruitt.
The family would like to give special thanks to the medical staff at Baton Rouge General Hospital, Baton Rouge Rehab Hospital, and The Crossing at Clarity Hospice.
Flowers may be delivered to Resthaven Funeral Home and memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and the Parkinson’s Foundation.
