Mary Jaszewski Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapels - Hillside Chapel on Dec. 31, 2025.
St. Anthony - Our dear mother, Mary Jaszewski, passed away on December 23, surrounded by her children. She lived a full and generous life rooted in faith, family, and curiosity about the world.

Raised in Northeast Minneapolis, Mary met the love of her life, Vernon Jaszewski, at Edison High School. They were married for 60 years and raised ten children, creating a home with an open door and a steady stream of laughter.

The heart of her family, Mary was smart, quick-witted, and blessed with a great sense of humor. A two-time family cribbage champion and lifelong night owl, she loved crossword puzzles and online Wordscape tournaments, maintaining a lively interest in current events. For more than 55 years, Mary cherished summers at the lake cabin, where she cooked for crowds and played card games. She worked for Voyager Art and had a talent for drawing. She knitted and learned piano as an adult.

A devoted parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Church for 68 years, Mary's faith anchored her life. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she delighted in attending their games and concerts.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Jaszewski; parents, Martin and Susan Kostik; brother, Martin Kostik; sister, Anna (Joseph) Tich; and son-in-law, Craig Gromek. She is survived by her children Paul (Glynis) Jaszewski, Carol (Mike) Jindra, Mark Jaszewski, Tom (Eileen) Jaszewski, Laura (Chip) Laingen, Ruth Gromek, John (Karen) Jaszewski, Lois Jaszewski, Gayle (Mike) Raymond, and Janet (Jonathan) Sparks; 29 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; her sister Helen (Robert) Feiker; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church Friday January 2nd, beginning at 9:30am, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00am. A luncheon will follow the Mass, with burial to take place afterward at Hillside Cemetery. Our family is deeply grateful to the exceptional staff at HCMC for their compassionate and attentive care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the group home where Mary's granddaughter, Jilli, lives: The Phoenix Residence, 222 Plato Blvd E., St. Paul, MN 55107.
