Mary Jeppson

It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Mary Lynn (Wright) Jeppson, age 76, of Chappell, Nebraska. Mary passed away peacefully at her home on September 5, 2025, surrounded by her devoted family.

Mary was born on January 20, 1949, in Chappell, Nebraska, to Don E. Wright and Florence Lillian (Swain) Wright. She attended school in Chappell and graduated from Chappell High School.

On November 7, 1964, Mary was united in marriage to the love of her life, Gary Lynn Jeppson of Chappell. Together they shared a lifetime of love and devotion, and were blessed with four children: Rory Lynn Jeppson, Kamy Lynn Jeppson, Dana Lynn Jeppson, and J’son Lynn Jeppson. In addition to raising their own family, Mary and Gary also opened their hearts and home to foster many others throughout the years.

Mary’s work reflected her love of service and community. She spent many years as a cook at several institutions, including the Chappell nursing home, Sidney hospital, and the Creek Valley School District. Her warmth extended beyond the workplace into her many hobbies, which included collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, clocks, and jewelry, as well as crafting fairy gardens and wind chimes. She delighted in finding treasures at garage sales and shopping at Goodwill.

Mary will be remembered for her hospitality, generosity, and boundless kindness. She never met a stranger—her table was always open, and her home a place of welcome, even during difficult times. After raising her own children, she continued to help raise many others in her community, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion.

She is survived by her loving husband, Gary Jeppson; daughter, Kamy Jeppson-Haugestuen (Alan) of Chappell, NE; sons, Dana Jeppson of Chappell, NE, and J’son Jeppson (Christance) of Dallas, TX; brothers, Mike (Debbie) Wright of Macon, GA, Kenny (Rayleen) Wright of Salina, KS, and Les (Linda) Wright of Beverly, KS; sister, Dodie (Rodger) Martin of Emporia, KS; grandchildren, Sean (Brooke) Jeppson of Sidney, NE, Brady (Cassandra) Doty of Julesburg, CO, Brent (Megan) Jeppson of Sidney, NE, Katy (Chris) Bowlin of Ogallala, NE, Darrick Jeppson of Chappell, NE, Jace (Lynda) Jeppson of San Diego, CA, Meaghan Ross of Sidney, NE, Alex Jeppson of Chappell, NE, Drew Jeppson of Kimball, NE, Greyson Jeppson of Dallas, TX, and Gia Jeppson of Dallas, TX; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Lillian Wright; sisters, Peggy Wegner, Donna Calvin, and Sherri Long; brother, Mark Wright; son, Rory Jeppson; and great-grandson, Brayden Doty.

A funeral service will be held at United Methodist Church in Chappell, Nebraska on Friday, September 12, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastors Riann Nel and Scotty Ray officiating. Interment will follow at the Chappell Cemetery. All are invited to join the family afterward for lunch and fellowship at the Chappell Fire Hall.

Arrangements are being handled by Holechek-Bondegard Funeral Home in Chappell.
