Mrs. Mary Jo Bailey, 83, of Ellaville, GA, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2024, at The Oaks Nursing Home in Marshallville, GA. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at LaCrosse Road Baptist Church with Rev. Lewis Kiger and Rev. John Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Americus, GA. The family will greet friends at Way-Watson Funeral Home in Ellaville, GA, on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, from 6:00-8:00PM.
Mrs. Bailey was born December 5, 1940, in Smithville, GA, to Waylo and Elsie Johnson Beamon. A devoted church member, she attended Memorial Heights Baptist Church in Perry, GA. Mrs. Bailey had a green thumb and delighted in bringing plants and flowers back to life. Flowers were her passion, and she enjoyed walking outdoors and admiring the natural plants around the pond while looking at the cows. She was employed with Sumter Regional Hospital as a Registered Nurse and she loved taking care of people. Mrs. Bailey loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Lee Bailey, a son, George Michael Bailey, and several siblings, Fred Beamon, Mitchell Beamon, Louette Wisener, and James Beamon.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Tim and Brenda Bailey and Terry Bailey of Ellaville, GA; a brother, Jack Beamon of Smithville, GA; three grandchildren, Krystle and Justin Brown, Justin and Lacy Bailey, and Blake Bailey; four great-grandchildren, Everly Brown, Georgianna Brown, Katelyn Bailey and Madyson Bailey; a special niece Donna and Randy Howard; several nieces and nephews; and the wonderful caregivers at The Oaks.
