Mrs. Mary Jo Rochester White, age 88, of 187 Farm Hill Road, Jonesville was the beloved widow of Marvin Rast White. She passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2025, from a brief illness. Mrs. White was born July 24, 1937, in Jonesville. She was the daughter of the late Ezell Mahon Rochester and Camilla Fowler Rochester. She was a graduate of Jonesville High School and had worked as a Southern Bell telephone operator. Mrs. White also worked for school cafeterias.
She was a member of New Beginnings Church in Pacolet, where she enjoyed worshipping with the praise team. Mrs. White had a compassionate love for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. White loved to visit and socialize with friends, who described her as warmhearted, genuine and full of humor. Her family experienced her unconditional love and her faithfulness to Christ. Mrs. White loved observing nature, road trips and adding to her collection of birds. Mary Jo is fondly remembered by her family and friends for always having a hand towel over her right shoulder, especially when cooking for her family.
Surviving are daughters, Joy Gray (Ray) and Sherry Gray (Jim) all of Jonesville. Two sons, Marty White of Spartanburg and Mark White (Camille) of Jonesville. Mrs. White also leaves behind a sister Rita Webber (Sonny), and a sister-in-law Louise Rochester. Grandchildren Will Gray (Joni), Ginny Gray (Daniel Robertson), Ivy Smith (David), Kinsley Gray (Terrance), great grandchildren, Teally-Rein and MareKapers Gray, Abrie Maeve Robertson, Gabriel, Samuel, Jude and Jacob Smith. She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews. Mrs. White was predeceased by a sister Betty Ward and a brother Grady Rochester.
Mrs. White service will begin with the family receiving friends from 1:30 pm until 2:30 pm Sunday, January 4, 2026, at New Beginnings Church 480 Sunny Acres Road, Pacolet SC. Following the visitation, graveside services, conducted by Pastor Lisa Parfitt and Pastor Randy Burgess, will be held at 3:00 pm, at Jonesville Memorial Gardens, 1370 State Hwy 9, Jonesville.
Active pallbearers will be Will Gray, David Smith, Daniel Robertson, Robert Ward, Landon Gregg and Danny Gregg.
The family is at their respective homes.
