Mary 'Lou' Carver Johnson

Niantic- Mary "Lou" Carver Johnson, 99, of Niantic, formerly of Quaker Hill, died March 19, 2026 at the Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London. She had resided at Crescent Point in Niantic for almost four years. She was born December 7, 1926 in New London, the daughter of James F. and Mary Perkins Carver. She married Alfred C. Johnson on March 15, 1947 in New London. He died March 25, 2006.

She graduated from the former Chapman Technical High School in 1944, She worked as a telephone operator During WWII.

She spent many years hiking with "The Over the Hill Gang" of Waterford. Mary Lou won third prize in an inaugural "Walk Connecticut". She won a NordicTrack Treadmill.

Mary spent many years with senior bowling in Waterford. She won several prizes thru the years for high scores.

She was predeceased by a brother Richard J. Carver; sister Helen C. Simons. She is survived by her nieces and nephews Bill Simons, Jan Sauer, Charles Johnson, Alan Johnson, Nancy Hubbert and Mary Lou LaBonte.

There will be a calling hour on Thursday, March 26, 2026 from 10 to 11 AM at the Thomas L. Neilan

& Sons East Lyme Funeral Home, 48 Grand ST., Niantic followed by a service at 11 AM. Interment will by private in Jordan Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Flanders Baptist and Community Church or to Yale New Haven Health for visiting nurses.

The family would like to thank the kind staff at Crescent Point and the L & M staff on Floor 4.2 for providing Mary a loving atmosphere.
