Mary Kathleen “Kat” Labbe, age 84, died on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Prompt Succor Nursing home in Opelousas, LA., following a brief illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA. Father Neil Pettit will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Cody Labbe, Jacob Labbe, David Labbe, Drew Labbe, Evan Labbe, Kyle Labbe and Christian Labbe.
Kat is survived by her four sons, Ted Labbe (Melinda) of Opelousas, LA, Barry Labbe (Joan) League City, TX, Bryan Labbe (Gina) Opelousas, LA and Kevin Labbe (Lori) Sunset, LA.; her fourteen grandchildren, Seth Labbe (deceased), Amanda Labbe Menard (Travis), Caitlyn Labbe Hobbs (Josh), Cody Labbe (Celia), Drew Labbe (Shayna), Sarah Labbe Lopez (Ieric), Kyle Labbe, Emily Labbe Pitre (Sam), Jacob Labbe, David Labbe, Evan Labbe (Hailey) Shelby Labbe LeBlanc (Coy), Cassie Labbe Robin (Storm) and Christian Labbe; her sixteen great-grandchildren; her sister, Judy Charles Rozas of Baton Rouge, LA; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Murray Labbe; her grandson, Seth; her parents, Eraste and Cassie Ledoux Charles; her brothers, Burton Charles and Adler Charles; her sister-in-law, Jeanette Morain Charles; and brother-in-law, Terry Rozas.
Kat was born on January 24, 1941 in Plaisance, LA. She graduated from Washington High School and T.H. Harris Technical School of Nursing. In high school, she loved to play basketball. What she lacked in height, she made up for it in speed! In April of 1961, Kat and Murray Labbe married and had four sons. Her pride and joy, Ted, Barry, Bryan and Kevin. She worked over thirty years as an LPN at Opelousas General Hospital. Kat enjoyed watching her boys play sports, watching LSU basketball, having family get togethers, especially Saturday nights and having coffee and lunch with friends
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. by Deacon Dwayne Joubert. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
