Mary L. (Dahl) Knops, age 87, of Menomonie, WI passed away peacefully after a short illness with her family by her side on Saturday March 8, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Health System – Red Cedar.
She was born December 23, 1937, in Menomonie, WI to Malcolm and Marian (Anderson) Dahl and attended Menomonie High School.
Mary married Larry Knops on November 16, 1955, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Menomonie, WI. Together, they had four children. They relocated to St. Paul Park, MN, where they lived for 22 years before returning to Menomonie to settle once more.
Mary had a deep love for many things in life. She found joy in the quiet comfort of reading. She also had a passion for puzzles, as she loved the challenge and sense of accomplishment they provided. Mary had a special bond with her pets, who were a source of companionship and joy throughout her life. Above all, she treasured her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, always putting the needs of her loved ones first.
Mary is survived by her two sons, Dale (Charlotte) Knops and Scott (Nancy) Knops; nine grandchildren, Jason (Erendira) Knops, Chad (Jessica) Chamberlain, Tony Knops, Stacy (Adam) Klinkhamer, Carolann (Stephen) Molina, Travis (Megan) Knops, Kary Ness, Kelsey Knops, Kallie Knops; 23 great-grandchildren; her sister, Karen (Stan) Gilles; her brother, John (Mary) Dahl; sisters-in-law Carol and Jayne who took special care of Mary, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Knops; her parents, Malcolm and Marian Dahl; her daughters, Dawn Knops and Penney Ness; one great-granddaughter; and her brother, William Dahl.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday March 28, 2025, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Menomonie, WI with Father John Mano officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. A luncheon will follow at the church.
