Mary Tracy Kun, 76, of Bradford, MA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the cherished wife of Laszlo Kun, with whom she shared almost forty-eight wonderful years of marriage.
Born in Putnam, CT, Mary was the daughter of the late Arthur and Agnes (Bazinet) Tracy. She pursued her passion for caring for others by earning a Nursing Degree from the University of Connecticut. Her dedication and compassion led her to a fulfilling career at Charles River Laboratories, where she worked for over twenty years until her retirement. Not only did she begin her working career by helping others, but she also did so after leaving CRL by becoming a home hospice aide.
Mary was a woman of many talents and interests. She found joy in the art of cross-stitching and crocheting, was affectionately known as the "Puzzle Queen" for the many, many jigsaw puzzles she completed, and she took pleasure in reading. Mary explored many areas in New England with her husband, taking lengthy day trips to enjoy the coastline and the White Mountains, such as walking the Marginal Way in Ogunquit and even tubing down the Saco River, and their adventures always included a stop at a favorite spot for lunch. She also looked forward to trips to Foxwoods, and some of her other favorite vacations were to Arizona and Tennessee.
She had a deep love for her many feline companions whom she adopted and cared for over the years. Above all, Mary's heart belonged to her family and friends. She always kept in touch with everyone both far and near, and she treasured every moment spent with them, especially during the holidays, when her home was filled with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of shared meals. Mary was particularly fond of her six grandchildren, and she took the time to learn about their evolving likes and interests, always wanting to shop for the perfect presents, and making sure to attend all their shows, sporting events, and special ceremonies.
In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her sister, Lois Rice; her brother-in-law, Jim; and her nephew, Michael Rice.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Laszlo; her loving sons, Bill Lavallie and his wife Michele of
Methuen, MA, Keith Kun and his wife Elizabeth of Wilmington, MA, and Brian Kun and his wife Jessica of Stafford Springs, CT. Mary also leaves behind her dear siblings, Arthur Tracy, Jr. and his wife Ruth of Shelton, WA, and Douglas Tracy, Sr. and his wife Peggy of Pomfret, CT. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Michael, Kloey, Jadyn, Jaycob, Archer, and Allison, and will be fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's memory may be made to the M.S.P.C.A., Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway,
Methuen, MA 01844.
