Mary Kenzie Obituary

Mary Leone Kenzie, 87, of Greenwood, SC, wife of David Kenzie, died Monday, October 6, 2025, at Ashley Square in Greenwood, SC. She was born in Jackson, Michigan to the late Frank Bober and Marie Bruynooghe Bober.

A 1956 graduate of St. Johns High School, Mary Leone retired from CTI Industries, a balloon manufacturer, as an administrative assistant, after many years of dedicated service. She continued her journey of learning by earning a Master Gardener degree that reflected her deep appreciation for nature. Her interest in gardening found a home within the McCormick Garden Club. Mary Leone also embraced the joy of friendship and fun as a member of the Savannah Lakes Red Hat club.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenwood, SC and former member of the Lutheran Church by the Lake in McCormick, SC. Her involvement in the Stephen Ministry allowed her to provide support and care to those in need, showcasing her compassion and dedication to service.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, David Kenzie, Jr. and John Kenzie; and a sister, Christine Dull.

Mary Leone is survived by her husband of 67 years, David, of the home; a son, Jason Kenzie of Fort Lauderdale, FL; two daughters, Lisa Prekosovich (John) of Houston, TX and Susan Kenzie (Peter Jarrell) of Wauconda, IL; four grandchildren, Adrienne (Nick), Lindsay (Joe), Matthew and Sara; and three great-grandchildren, Rachel, Hannah, and Freddie.

A service to celebrate Mary Leone's life will be 11:00AM, Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 501 E. Creswell Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646 with Rev. Chris Christopher and Rev. Jim Kinsler officiating.

Memorial contributions, in memory of Mary Leone, may be sent to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 501 E. Creswell Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646 or Dementia Society of America, PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901 or the charity of one's choice.
