Mary Linscott Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snouffer Funeral Home on Jan. 8, 2026.
Mary "Rosalie" White Linscott, 90, was called home by her Lord and Savior on January 7, 2026, surrounded by her children and great grandson as she peacefully passed after a six-day battle with cancer. Rosalie was born April 23, 1935, to Coral C. White and Bertha Louise O'Neal Buckley in Stockport, Ohio.

She was the second oldest child and farm girl born into a family of eight; two sisters and five brothers. She graduated eighth grade from Stockport and then the family moved to McConnelsville. Rosalie or Rosie as she was called by many went to high school at M&M graduating in 1953. While there she met her husband, Denzil, and the father of her five children. Her high school goal was to marry Denzil, so she waited for him to graduate in 1954, during which time she babysat and cared for her little brother Tom while her mother worked. Although they divorced in 1975, Denzil and Rosalie remained friends and she helped care for him during his illness in 2018 and 2019.

Mary was a housewife and caring mother in the home for 21 years, after which she had a wide variety of jobs stemming from caring for children as a per say nanny in the 1980's and 90's including her own granddaughter Kayla (Dixie's daughter) as a newborn, working at Harts Family Center, Days Inn Zanesville, Goss Supply (cleaning lady) Zanesville, personal secretary to her middle daughter keeping track of medical appointments or wherever she was supposed to be and when just to name a few.

Mary Rosalie was proud of her children and their life accomplishments and she loved people, never meeting a stranger, she was a talker and a giver of time, food or whatever someone needed.

When Rosalie turned 60, she with the help of her daughters, Dixie and Darla, took on a new role of being a guardian and raising her special joy, her precious great grandson, Brandon at the age of six months (her sixth child). He kept her young by doing school studies, going to all of his football games for four years being his biggest fan and her ability to continue working outside the home to the age of 79.

She loved Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, traveling several years with her daughter Darla; sitting on her porch and frequent visitor to her daughter's home one mile away. She continued to drive through 2025 until she broke her hip ball joint but continued to live alone through January 2, 2026, checking up on friends, making several daily phone calls to Darla and Brandon, riding as a companion to Darla's monthly doctor visits on Columbus and still doing kindnesses for others along the way.

Rosalie character was strong, brave, courageous, loving and yes sometimes very stern. Although she was a talker, she also was a great listener and sometimes gave her opinions; wanted and maybe sometimes unwanted regardless of the time of day...she was available always. She had flaws, like we all do, with that said she was a wonderful person and a great Mom, grandmother, friend and neighbor.

Mary Rosalie will be missed by many, she leaves behind her children: Debbie Linscott-Windau of Columbus, Danny Linscott of Cambridge and Darla Linscott of Zanesville; great grandson, Brandon Linscott of Crooksville; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; her brothers: Ron White, Bill White and Tom White; along with countless nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends.

Those who have gone on before Mary Rosalie from this life include her beloved youngest daughter Dixie Denise Linscott Lyons; oldest son Denny Linscott; great granddaughter Peyton Dee Elizabeth Carter; special former husband and friend Denzil Linscott; sisters: Betty Wilson and Carolyn Sue Ross; brothers: Bob White and Richard White; and her precious dog Isabella.

At her request there will be no services. Cremation care has been entrusted to the Snouffer Crematory. THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE has the distinct honor of serving the Linscott family.

Mary was a great neighbor. She always kept an eye on my place. She kept her place immaculate. I always admired her for that. I'll miss seeing her wave out the door or at her window whenever I would leave the house. She will be missed for sure. Great lady!! Sending prayers to her family. Linda
