Mary Litos Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc. on Apr. 2, 2025.
Mary Lou Litos (72) of Annadale passed away on April 1, 2025.
Mary Lou was born to George and Violet Lavdas on November 30, 1952 in Trenton, NewJersey. Mary Lou was proud of her Greek heritage. She and her sister spent their childhood years playing dress-up at their beloved Yia Yia's house, singing and dancing at family gatherings, and running around their father's restaurant, The Jolly Fox. Mary Lou picked up on her father's talents in the kitchen quickly, and was an amazing chef herself.
Mary Lou's fondness for dress-up continued into her teen and adult years. Her mother, a giftedseamstress, made beautiful clothes that Mary Lou loved to wear out on the town. She was wearing one of those beautiful outfits on a fateful night at The Jolly Fox in 1971 when she locked eyes with one of the boys in the band. It was love at first sight. Mary Lou and Andrew were married in May 1976 and built a beautiful life together.
Dedicated to her family, Mary Lou quit her job at Gallo Wines and soon welcomed two children. A long-standing parishioner of Holy Trinity Church, she got involved in the philanthropic efforts of the church and served as president of the Philoptochos for eight years. With the children in school, Mary Lou went back into the workforce and spent over ten years working as a medical biller for Dr. Michelle Menichella's chiropractic practice.
Mary Lou is survived by her husband, Andrew Litos, their son, George Litos, his wife, JeannetteLitos, her grandsons, Derek (5) and Noah (20m), and her sister, Julia Lavdas. Mary Lou was a proud Greek woman, wife, mother, and Yia Yia. She was a vibrant person. She laughed loudly and often, dressed colorfully, and loved completely. She will be deeply missed.
Family and friends are welcome to remember and celebrate her life from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 7, 2025, at Holy Trinity-St.
Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church located at 1641 Richmond Ave Staten Island, New York 10314. Interment to follow at Moravian Cemetery, 2205 Richmond Rd, Staten Island, NY.
