Mary Eileen Lockhart, age 83, of Geneva, IN, passed away at 12:58 PM on Monday, January 5, 2026 at her home. She was born on Monday, January 26, 1942, in Decatur, IN. to William and Eleanor Heeter. She was married to Ronald Lockhart of Huntington, NY. in 1962. She attended Purdue University in Indiana and graduated from Hofstra University in New York. Mary received her Bachelor's degree in English Arts. She was a homemaker and had worked as a secretary, was a tour guide for Limberlost cabin in Geneva, IN, she was a curator and librarian. Mary had worked at the Walt Whitman House in Huntington, NY. She was a member of the Garden Club and of the Red Hat club.

Loving survivors include her Daughters - Elizabeth Lynne Dougherty, Calabash, NC, Heather Anne Lockhart, Geneva, IN, Sister - Carol Dailey, Geneva, IN, and 3 Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her Parents- William & Eleanor Heeter.

A graveside service to celebrate her life will be at a later date at the West Lawn Cemetery in Geneva.

Arrangements are being handled by Downing & Glancy Funeral Home in Geneva.

Mary and I were good friends for many years. We were in the Red Hats club together and helped at the Limberlost cabin together. She will be greatly missed! She was a kind, lovely lady.
