Mary A. (Sullivan) Loftus of Quincy, originally from South Boston, passed away peacefully at the South Shore Hospital on Tuesday, November 25th at 3:40 PM surrounded by her loving family after a long courageous battle with congestive heart failure. She was 83.
Mary resided at the Discovery Village in Quincy for the past 9 years where she formed many friendships as the welcoming ambassador and resident council member. Mary had a special gift of making everyone she met feel special in every way. Her beauty was a true outward reflection of the beautiful person she was on the inside. She will be dearly missed by her community and friends at Discovery Village.
Beloved wife of the late Thomas P. Loftus Sr. Cherished mother of Mary Anne Dilworth and her husband Edward of Quincy, the late Thomas P. Loftus Jr., Joseph J. Loftus and his companion Christine Cronin-Berry of Hanover, and Patrick T. Loftus of South Boston. She was the devoted, loving and all around best “Nana L” to Jaelynne Marie Dilworth of Quincy. Mary had a special bond with Jaelynne and truly adored her more than anything in this world. Loving sister to the late Claire Escalle (Vic), Margaret McDonald (Jerry) and Joseph G. Sullivan (Bette). Also survived by her sisters-in-law, Veronica (Bartley) Loftus of Weymouth and Barbara (Marty) Loftus of Quincy, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from 4-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A graveside service will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 10 AM in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Please meet at the cemetery office at 700 West Street in Braintree.
