Mary Lothrop Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Curlew Hills Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Oct. 7, 2025.
Mary Dighello Lothrop
Born and raised in North Central Connecticut, Mary was the beloved wife of Ronald Paul Lothrop since 1957, and the dedicated mother to Richard, Rhonda and Brian. She was also in the vanguard of a generation of women taking on a serious career while remaining committed to raising a happy and healthy family. After advancing through clerical work and into management at W. T. Grant, she shifted into Real Estate in the 1970s. She earned early success in one of the small firms that eventually became a part of Coldwell Banker, and remained with Coldwell until her retirement in the 2010s, having reached the status of Million Dollar Leasing Agent.
All that while, she remained dedicated to her family, both to her parents and siblings in New England, and to us, her husband and children, here in Florida since the 1960s. Throughout our childhood, the family traveled to Connecticut and elsewhere every summer for two weeks or more, creating some of our most memorable moments and maintaining strong bonds with all the extended family there. Back home, she kept the family close by always insisted on hosting celebrations and dinners for all our Birthdays, Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving.
Spiritually, Mom was dedicated to bringing us up with a strong faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was truly a Proverbs 31 woman, exercising humility in her dedication to even the smallest of tasks for the home and family, while exerting strength and honor outwardly in the community.
Although she was devastated by the loss of her husband, Ron, in 2014, she remained committed to helping her children and her Church to the very end. While we kids have never stopped needing Mom's love, help, and wisdom, Mom felt that her Church family needed her, as well. She volunteered throughout the past decade at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church and to help those retired parishioners residing at St. Mark Village.
Earlier in life, she loved water skiing, outings in the family boat, and league bowling with friends. As her 90th year approached, she was able to remain in her own home, and remain the focal point for the family. She's still insisted on doing everything herself, even maintaining a Servant Spirit that kept her waiting on others who came to visit. She was a Good and Faithful Servant, and is surely enjoying her reward now, reunited with her beloved Ron. We look forward to joining them, ourselves, one fine day.
