Mary Lou DeYoung, age 78, formerly of Taylors, South Carolina, and widow of Larry DeYoung, passed away on November 24, 2025 at Story Point Assisted Living in Shaker Heights, Ohio. She was the beloved daughter of the late Esley Dupree “Tick” Fowler and Mary Etta Cheek Fowler.
Born on February 25, 1947, at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, South Carolina, Mary Lou spent her childhood on air bases in Kansas, England, and California before returning to South Carolina in 1963. She graduated from James F. Byrnes High School and Spartanburg Community College. Mary Lou enjoyed a distinguished career with Mutual of Omaha and BB&T Bank, later retiring from Prisma Health in Greenville, South Carolina.
Known for her warmth and hospitality, Mary Lou cherished hosting family gatherings, birthday celebrations, and Clemson tailgate parties, creating lasting memories for all who attended.
She is survived by her son, David Jolly; daughter-in-law, Anne Jolly; and granddaughters, Mary Katharine Jolly, Sloan Jolly, and Christina Jolly.
A memorial service will be held at Saturday, December 13th, at 10:00 am in Markley Chapel at Christ Church Episcopal in Greenville, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harvest Hope Food Bank 2818 White Horse Road Greenville, SC 29611 or the Alzheimer’s Association of Greenville 123 W Antrim Drive Greenville, SC 29607.
