KEOTA-Mary Lou Miller, age 88 of Keota, died Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at her home.
Mary Lou was born October 8, 1936, in Washington, the daughter of William and Armorelle (McCreedy) Miller and graduated from Keota High School in 1953. Mary Lou worked for Fagen Elevator and Wilson Meats in Cedar Rapids before working as the Assistant to the Registrar at University of Iowa for 39 years. She immensely enjoyed her family, and the Iowa Hawkeyes, where she never missed a home game in many years. GO HAWKS! In her younger years she enjoyed playing lots of golf. She currently played in five different card clubs and regularly went out to eat with her group of friends. Mary Lou was infamous for her lead foot.
Survivors include her son: Bill (Necole) Miller of Keota; three grandchildren: Lakin Miller of Keota, Kevin (Teresa) Miller of Keota, and Maleah Miller of Cedar Rapids and three great grandchildren: Adyson, Kendryck, and Krew. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Betty Stoutner and Phyllis Lyle.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the United Church of Faith in Keota, with Rev. Erin Kaye officiating. Burial will be at the Keota Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Powell Funeral Home in Keota.
A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Washington County or the Keota Fire Department. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is caring for Mary Lou and her family. Tributes may be made at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
