Mary Lou Lycans age 62 passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on the morning of December 26, 2025. Born September 26, 1963, to Mable and Charles Lycans, she came into this world with sugar and spice and a heart of Gold.
Mary Lou spent most of her life caring for others, taking care of her parents and opening her door to many kids, loving them as her own, she has battled heart issues the past several years. Our hearts are broken but we know hers is no longer hurting.
Surviving is Mary's only daughter Terril Terry, who was Mary’s whole world, Her Grandson Cyres and Granddaughter Dakota, and Great grandson Danny. Her sister and Brother in law Cecilia and Tom Jervis of Rittman, Brother Charles Lycans of Rittman , Sister in law and best friend Sara Tackett of Rittman, nieces and nephews Julie and Curtis light of Rittman, Jeremy Liston of Rittman , Chaun and Crystal Rowland of Locust Grove Georgia, great Nieces and nephew Jasmine, Jocelyn, Charles , and Trinity , numerous Childhood friends and too many kids in the town of Rittman to count that still called her Mom or Mamaw.
Preceded in death was Mother Mable who passed in September of 2010, Father, Charles who passed in May of 2024, And her dog Shivers who also passed in 2024 that she called her baby Rombob.
If you knew Mary, she loved you and she wasn’t afraid to tell you if she didn’t. Mary will be dearly missed by all of us but we know she’s in heaven, having coffee with her Mom, holding shivers on her lap while watching her dad in the Garden of heaven.
Services will Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Bruce Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery at Rittman. Friends may call Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with Mary’s final expenses.
