Mary T. Marx, 78, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2024.
Born on July 19, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Myrtle DeVarnne. She was also predeceased by her husband James Marx Sr; Brothers John, Carl, Joseph, and Raymond Jr. Sisters; Faith and Sara.
While raising five children, Mary helped her husband run several businesses to include, Jim’s Canteen, Mary’s News and Novelties, Commercial Caterers, Auctioneers Outlet, and Bargains Galore. Mary also worked at Bellevue Maternity Hospital, and most recently before her illness, Home Instead. She also provided private care for the elderly.
Mary was an avid decorator who enjoyed decorating every room in her house. Our father would complain that the glue on the wallpaper hadn’t dried before she changed it. She enjoyed dancing at every event, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her five children, Brenda (John) Fusco, Jim (Colleen) Marx Jr., Lisa (Daniel) Blyth, Kelly Blyth (Bob Jones), and Tonya (Jim) Woods.
Mary is also survived by her sister Fran (Joseph) Bender; Twelve grandchildren, Robert, Ryan, Meghan, Brittney, Hillary, Allie, Kaitlynn, Christopher, Tessa, Jimmy, Kristen, and Robby; Step grandsons, Jason and Joey; Ten great grandchildren, Adam, Jad, Najim, Kayden, Murphy, Molly, Teddy, Madison, Flynn, Harper, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, from 5 – 7 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie NY 12205.
The family will hold a private burial on a later date.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at 1003 New Loudon Rd., Unit 201, Cohoes, NY 12047.
The family would like to thank the staff at Van Rensselaer Mannor Nursing Home for the outstanding comfort care given to our mother and family.
