Diane Jacko Obituary

Jacko, Diane Newell
NISKAYUNA - Diane Newell Jacko, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and dedicated educator, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025, in Albany, N.Y. Born on June 26, 1941, Diane, a devoted Catholic, lived a life rich in love, creativity, and unwavering commitment to her family, church and community.
Diane's career as an elementary school teacher on Long Island was marked by her exceptional caring, warmth, and dedication. A graduate of Trinity College in Washington, D.C., she embodied intelligence, grace, and the highest ideals of her profession. A published author, her influence extended far beyond the classroom, leaving a lasting impression on generations of students.
Diane expressed her love for music through playing piano and singing, and found joy in the arts, especially Broadway and theater. She shared this enthusiasm with her loved ones, enriching their lives with her vibrant spirit. Diane also treasured long drives and sightseeing adventures with her beloved husband, Joel, creating countless cherished memories together.
Her deep connection to Bolton Landing and Diamond Point was rooted in family history and her deep love for her Trout Lake Club family. Diane truly loved her many lifelong friends from all corners of the country.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Joel Jacko; her son, Brad Jacko; his wife, Kathleen; and their children, Troy and Victoria; her daughter, Shawn Stewart; her husband, Kyle; and their children Grace, Tommy, and Sadie, all of whom brought immense joy and pride to her life. Known to her grandchildren as "Nini" and "Grandma," she cherished and loved them like none other. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and they loved and cared for her deeply.
Diane was preceded in death by her son of whom she adored, Craig Jacko; loving parents, Andrew and Margaret (Peggy) Newell; and her sister Carol Newell, who she now joins in eternal peace.
Family and friends are invited to honor Diane's life at a visitation on October 26, 2025, from 1 to 3 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 3 p.m., at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie, N.Y.
A celebration of her life will be held in the summer in Bolton Landing, where her legacy will be remembered in the place she held so dear.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Diane's name to Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany, or the Alzheimer's Association.
Diane's legacy of love, kindness, and faith, will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
