Amsterdam – Theodore R. Schrom, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 84, surrounded by his loving family on October 20, 2025. Born on December 26, 1940, in Fulton, NY, he was the son of the late William and Isabelle (Pierce) Schrom.
Theodore dedicated much of his life to his work as a mason and truck driver, but it was his role as the morning opener of Stars Café that brought him the greatest joy. Beyond his professional endeavors, Theodore was passionate about giving back, founding a non-profit organization that served as a division of The US Naval Sea Cadets, where he inspired young people to develop leadership skills and a sense of duty.
An active member of the Foothills Worship Center in Johnstown, NY, Theodore found great fulfillment in singing in the choir, sharing his love for music and faith with others. His strong work ethic was a guiding principle in his life, one that he instilled in his family, teaching them the value of dedication and perseverance.
Above all, Theodore treasured his family, who he considered his greatest accomplishment. He was a devoted father and grandfather, great-grandfather, always finding joy in the simple moments spent with his loved ones. His legacy of love, kindness, and hard work will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Theodore is survived by the only love of his life for 63 years, Judith Schrom. Children, Stephanie Schrom, Wendy Weissman, Theodore “Tj” (Jennifer) Schrom. Grandchildren, Micah Schrom, Garrett (Jessica Forbes) Schrom, Joshua Weissman, Brandon ( Katarina ) Schrom, Jared Weissman. Great-grandchildren, Lauren Schrom, Jackson Schrom, Andrew Schrom and a host of family and friends.
Calling hour 9-10 followed by 10:00am Service will be held Monday October 27, 2025 held at Foothills Worship Center 305Jansen Ave Johnstown, NY 12095. Interment to follow service Chuctanunda Cemetery Minaville, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Foot Hills Worship Center.
