Mary Margaret Halbisen Mayle, 91, passed away in Grove City, Ohio on Sunday, August 18, 2024. She was born December 3, 1932 at the family home in Ballville Twp., the daughter of the late Ervin J. Halbisen and Virgie (Shiets) Halbisen. Mary was a 1951 graduate of St. Joseph High School.
Mary married Richard Sours in April of 1953 who passed away on June 15 1961. Mary then married John “Jack” Mayle on July 4, 1964 who passed away on April 7, 2022.
Mary worked at the A&P store in downtown Fremont. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Francis Junior Guild, St. Joseph Adult Choir, leader of Division 7 Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament, Croghan Street Garden Club of St. Joseph Church, lay Communion Minister for nursing homes and homebound, and member of Gourmet Club. She also helped with the Fremont Soup Kitchen ministry. Mary loved flowers and spending time with family and friends.
Mary is survived by her son, Greg Sours (Diane Lazor) of Grove City, Ohio; grandson, Bryan Sours (Jess Knight) of Portland, Oregon; and sister, Ginny Jennings of Sun City, Arizona.
She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Richard Sours; second husband, John Mayle; siblings, Sister Mary Marciana SND, Luella Tinkovicz, Rita King, infant sister, Jean; and brother, Ervin (Bub) Halbisen.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 from 4-8 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH 43420.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at 10 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 709 Croghan St., Fremont, OH 43420
Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Mary’s honor to Mt. Carmel Hospice, 777 W. State St., Columbus, OH 43222, or your local food bank. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Ashford of Grove City and Mt. Carmel Hospice.
