Mary Noreen Mercier

Mary Noreen Mercier, 92, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Wesley Health Care Center. She was born on February 28, 1933, in Torrington, Connecticut to Edward and Katherine Hogan.
Noreen worked for many years as a Unit Secretary at Four Winds Hospital and then went on to work as a telephone operator at Curtis Lumber Co until her retirement. Noreen was an avid reader and loved to read cookbooks from cover to cover. Sadly, she lost her sight, which precipitated her move to Wesley.
During her years at Wesley, she enjoyed playing BINGO and especially winning! And win she did. She had a bed full of stuffies as proof. Noreen enjoyed visits from her kids and grandkids. She loved hearing all about the lives of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved her nightly "apple juice" (wine) that family brought at every visit.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband Donald Mercier, son Michael Haskell, her former husband and father of children Albert Haskell, and sister Pat Smith. Noreen is survived by her children Sherry Sutton (Jay), Kim Higley (Rob), Patrick Haskell (Deb), Stephen Haskell (Tammy), and Scott Haskell (Fran), many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and her special friends Kitty and Marilyn.
At Noreen's request services will be private. Memorial contributions in memory of Noreen may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
