Miccio, Mary Gen
COHOES - Mary Genevieve Miccio, 76, formerly of Troy, entered into eternal life, Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the Eddy Village Green, surrounded by her loving family.
Born and raised in Cohoes, Mary Gen was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Guzek Koval. She was a graduate of the Academy of the Holy Names in Albany and received her Master's Degree in Education from Russell Sage College. She began her teaching career in 1972 at the former St. Joseph's School in Cohoes, and went on to teach 3rd grade at Harmony Hill School in Cohoes for 24 years until retiring in 2010.
Mary Gen was a communicant of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Cohoes, a former member of the Troy Country Club for many years, the PTA in Troy as well as the Junior League of Troy. She also served on the Board of Directors for the Ronald McDonald House in Albany.
Mary Gen was dedicated to her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking and celebrating every holiday with matching cocktail napkins.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Ralph P. Miccio; by her loving children, Meghan Capra (Jonathan) of Albany, Molly Scott (Christopher) of Ballston Spa and Alexander Miccio (Sofia) of Weston, Mass.; by her sister, Beverly Jacon (John) of Corinth; and by her adored grandsons, Samuel and Oliver Scott. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Carolyn Koval of Cohoes; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would also like to acknowledge her dear friends, Patti, Mary Ann and Jane who shared so many memories with her.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Koval.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, at 9:30 a.m., from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes, and at 10 a.m., in the Church of the Holy Trinity, Cohoes. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Waterford.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
