Celebrating a Life Well-Lived
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mary Miori, who departed this life on December 2, 2025, in
Houston, TX. Mary was 58 years old and leaves behind a legacy of embracing every day with newfound wonder and joy.
Mary had a unique ability to make you remember to always be happy and to cherish the little moments in life. She was joyful in all things.
She always looked forward to the next family gathering. She wanted to know who would be there and what the menu was going to be – her favorites, cheeseburgers and milkshakes.
She made you feel like her favorite person when you entered the room. Mary would light up and make sure you knew she was so happy that you were there. Any gift she received, no matter how big or small, made her feel like she had won the lottery- and she made sure you knew it.
Mary loved movies. Among her favorites, Girls Just Want to Have Fun, a romantic comedy filled with dance numbers. She also loved going to get manicures and was eager to show you what color she had chosen- always red or red with sparkles.
Mary also loved the community in which she lived for the past 26 years - Hope Village. There, she formed many meaningful friendships especially with her boyfriend, Bill, and her longtime roommate, Josephine- relationships that spanned more than 20 years. The House 4 House Moms- Debra, Renee, Linda and Anchise- created a true home for her. One of Mary's greatest joys was performing in the annual Christmas program performed by her and the other residents for family and the community. For many years, she lovingly portrayed the Blessed Mother Mary alongside Bill as Joseph.
Matthew 18:3 states "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." In this verse Jesus is speaking to the disciples who had asked him who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Jesus uses an example of a child to show them traits for what God values; among them the traits of sincerity and pureness of heart. Mary was a living example of these traits and a reminder to approach life with child-like wonder, honesty and joy.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Vivian and Reynold Miori; her sisters Jan Miori, Karen Miori Nathan; and her brother-in-law, Terry Nathan. She is survived by her brother Steve Miori; her cousin, Donna Hall Stewart; her niece, Alison Nathan Huxel and countless family and friends.
Mary's memory will be treasured always, and she will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life Open House Gathering will be held at the home of Alison Huxel on Sunday, December 14, from 2:00-6:00pm. An Interment of Ashes will take place on Monday, December 15, at 10:00am at St. David's Episcopal Church in Austin. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Hope Village in Friendswood, Texas.
