MAXINE CHANEY Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wesley A. Boyd Funeral Home (a.k.a Boyd Funeral Directors of Texas) on Jan. 6, 2026.
Maxine White-Chaney was born on April 23, 1955, in Diboll, Texas, to the late Lee A. White Sr. and Minnie C. White. She was the fifth of nine children and was lovingly raised in a close-knit family.

Maxine received her education in the Diboll Independent School District, attending Bethune Elementary School, Charles R. Drew Junior High School, and graduating from G.W. Carter High School in 1974. She later attended the Upward Bound Program at Texas Southern University, from which she graduated in 1976. Upon completing the program, Maxine began her professional career with ARAMCO Oil Company, where she excelled as the company's top secretary. Known for her professionalism and warm personality, Maxine was often the first face guests saw when the elevator doors opened-greeting them with a smile, learning the purpose of their visit, and directing them to their destination.

On October 16, 1976, Maxine married Reginald Gage. From this union, one son was born, Abdule D. "Poncho" White-Gage. She later married Kerry D. Parks Sr. on September 3, 1982, and together they welcomed two children, a daughter, Keriessa M. Parks, and a son, Kerry D. "Boobie" Parks Jr. On June 13, 1994, Maxine united in marriage with Calvin Chaney.

Maxine had a true passion for drawing and was exceptionally talented. Her penmanship was unique and unmistakable- anyone who saw it knew immediately it was her work. A fun fact about Maxine was her love for Elvis Presley. She enjoyed watching him sing and dance, often singing and dancing along to his records. She was deeply heartbroken when he passed away.

On the morning of Sunday, December 28, 2025, Maxine answered the call of the Lord and peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Calvin Chaney; brothers Jesse White Sr. and Lee White Jr. "Sonnyman"; and sisters Betty White, Minnie White, and Telia White.

Maxine leaves to cherish her loving memory her children, Abdule "Poncho" White-Gage, Keriessa M. Parks, and Kerry D. "Boobie" Parks Jr.; her grandchildren, Anniya and Amari White; her sisters, Rosie White and Carol Ann White; her brother, Jasper White; and a host of nephews, nieces, aunts, cousins, and dear friends.
