Mary Moody Obituary
Born in Washington, D.C., on October 6, 1946, to Joseph Robert Connolly and Hilda Connolly Wiles (née Rogers), Mary Sue grew up in Washington, D.C., and the Maryland suburbs. She was predeceased by her husband, Rod Moody; her parents, Joseph Robert Connolly and Hilda Connolly Wiles; her brother-in-law, James Gambino Sr.; her mother-in-law, Bonnie Moody; and her very dear friend, Bubby Stine.
Mary Sue attended Catholic schools and later worked for the trade unions for decades. After her retirement, she moved to Cobb Island. There, she enjoyed the tranquility of the island and opened her home to family and friends. Many of her happiest memories centered on cookouts and crab feasts on her porch, shared with loved ones.
She is survived by her sisters, Irene Gambino and Peppi Murphy of Taneytown, Maryland; her nephews and nieces, James Gambino Jr., Sue Gambino, Michael Gambino (Beth), Alice Gambino (Gavin), Theresa Gambino (Mark), and Ben Murphy; her grandnephews, Justin, Andrew, William, Blaise, Tony, Greg, Atticus, Niko, and Luca; her brother-in-law, Benjie Murphy; and her devoted canine companion, Daisy.
The family is deeply grateful for cherished friends Gilly, Paul, Derrick, and Kathy.
A celebration of life will be held at the Cobb Island Firehouse on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 12:00 noon, followed by a repast.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society.
Mary Sue's generosity and kindness will be remembered by all those whose lives she touched.
