Mary Moran Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by George M. Holt Funeral Home on Mar. 5, 2026.
Mary Eileen Moran died on 4 March 2026 after a sudden illness. Eileen was born in the Bronx, NY in August of 1942 to John Henchy and Nora (nee Sheedy), both of County Clare, Ireland. Eileen was a graduate of the 1960 class of St. Pius High School. Eileen was the widow of her beloved high school sweetheart, Joseph Michael Moran who she married at St. Pius Church in 1962, remaining together until Joe's passing in 2020. Loving Mother to sons Joseph (Denise), Michael (Kathleen), and Daniel (Carrie). Caring grandmother to Erin, Caitlin (Andrew), Joe, Sean, Brian (Amanda), Nora, Danny, and Lucy. Great grandmother to James. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents, brother John, and sister Ann. Eileen and Joe moved to Stony Point, NY in 1966 and became life-long residents.

Eileen most valued family, friends, and fun. Eileen loved to travel with her family, making many trips to Ireland, Cape Cod, the Poconos, and most of all, Walt Disney World. Eileen and Joe enjoyed vacations with Claire and Eddy Keegan, and George and Karen Harris. They loved dinner parties with Bob and Mary Lynch, card games with Larry and Paula De Paolis. Eileen loved to laugh with the ladies in the corner at Bowline, meeting up with Duke, the Quinns, and the rest of the McDonalds crowd, going to seniors, first with Joe, then with Kay Laiso. After learning to swim in her 20s, Eileen developed a lifelong love of the water and frequently made new friends, while enjoying the different pools and hot tubs along her travels. Eileen enjoyed visits from the folks from meals on wheels and adventures with Elaine Casey and Barbara and Dave Sharp. She was a lover of all God's furry friends, especially her dog Skippy, cat Simba and she is survived by her cat, Lucky. Eileen worked as an executive secretary for many firms in Manhattan. She also worked at Fisher Scientific, Lighting Services, and Marine Midland Bank. She was an active parishioner of St. Gregory Barbarigo and later Immaculate Conception Church. Eileen will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
